group races at Salisbury and Leopardstown

lots of racing today, with 8 meetings in all, 5 of them in the evening, and highlighted by group races at Salisbury and Leopardstown. The Sovereign Stakes over a mile at 17.15 CET is the Salisbury feature and there are 12 runners, 4 of whom should be known to German punters. Premio Loco(Chris Wall/ George Baker) won at Baden-Baden and Cologne in 2009 and has been running in top races since. He needs fast ground (which is likely) and strong pace, which is not so certain. Godolphin field 3 runners, with Emerald Commander (Saeed bin Suroor/ Ted Durcan) in the first colours; he won the same Baden-Baden race last year and was recently runner-up to Alianthus at Düsseldorf. Secrecy(Richie Mullen) flopped at Hoppegarten last time, while Frozen Power (Mahmood al Zarooni/ Ahmed Ajtebi) won the German 2000 Guineas last year but has not run up to that form since. The penalised Fanunalter (Marco Botti/ Adam Kirby) and Side Glance (Andrew Balding/ Jimmy Fortune) must also be considered, but Premio Loco gets our vote.
Strangely enough, there are no 3yo´s in the Salisbury field, but we expect this age group to dominate Leopardstown´s Desmond Stakes, also over a mile, at 20.05. The Aga Khan´s Emiyna (John Oxx/ Johnny Murtagh) is our choice to win from Future Generation (Ger Lyons/ Keagan Latham).
