Final day of Punchestown

The Grade One Champion 4yo Hurdle at 17.25 is the main feature of the fifth and final day of the big Punchestown meeting, and Dermot Weld´s filly Uncommited (Paul Carberry) looks by far the likeliest winner. She ran an excellent race at Cheltenham as runner-up to the smart Zarkandar, who went on to an easy win at Aintree from Kumbeshwar (Alan King/ Robert Thornton), with Grandouet (Nicky Henderson/ Barry Geraghty), still going well, brought down two out. Twinlight, whose trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Ruby Walsh have had such a tremendous week, also has a chance, but Uncommitted, also very smart on the flat (beat yesterday´s group winner St. Nicholas Abbey last time out) is a confident selection.

The other big race here is the Grade 3 mares hurdle over 2 1/4 miles at 16.45 with 15 runners. Mullins has two possibilities here with Morning Supreme (Walsh) and J´y Vole (David Casey), who have both been mainly running over fences this season. British hopes Veiled (Henderson/ Geraghty) and Alasi (Paul Webber/ Dominic Elsworth) are the dangers. They were first and second at Cheltenham last time, but Alasi is now much better off at the weights and can reverse the form.
