All-weather racing at Lingfield and Wolverhampton

Very little to get excited about at today´s two all-weather meetings, Lingfield this afternoon and Wolverhampton this evening. Sir Mark Prescott appears to have found another serial winner in Luck of the Draw (Steven Donohoe), who can win for the third time this year (!) in the 1 mile 5 furlongs handicap at 14.40 CET at Lingfield. If past experience is any guide, he probably has tons in hand despite a penalty for his latest Southwell success.

Best betting race here is the 5 furlongs handicap at 15.10, in which Milton Bradley saddles his two popular veterans, 14yo The Tatling (Russell Kennemore) and 11yo Cape Royal (Liam Keniry). Of these we prefer the former, who rarely wins these days but never runs a bad race; he meets You´relikemefrank (John Balding/ Graham Gibbons), who beat him easily over this CD last week, on 6 lbs better terms, while Estonia (Michael Squance/ Cathy Gannon), who has also twice won over this CD recently, is another danger.

Another CD specialist is Methaaly (Michael Mullineaux/ Joseph Young) who runs in the 6 furlongs handicap at 18.40 at Wolverhampton. He has won 5 times here, including twice for this apprentice. Otherwise we are interested in the performance of German-bred L´Homme de Nuit (Jim Best/ Andrew Heffernan) who runs in the 2 mile handicap an hour later. The son of Samum is a decent hurdler but has been off the track for nearly a year; stamina will be no problem, but fitness could be.
