Wolverhampton this evening the only meeting left today

Seven low level races at Wolverhampton are all that is now left from today´s fixtures. The opening apprentices handicap over 1 1/2 miles at 17.00 CET features Final Drive (John Ryan/ Joshua Crane), who has won his last 3 races but has a huge weight as a result. He won over this CD 3 weeks ago from Strike Force (Olivia Mayhem/ Kieren Fox), who now meets him on much better terms.

The 2yo maiden at 19.00 should go to Geoff Oldroyd´s Lady Platinum Club (A. Carter) , beaten a head in a much stronger field over this CD 3 weeks ago. The handicaps look very tricky, although the fields are not large. Tiradito (Marco Botti/ Andrea Atzeni) showed improved form to finish runner-up over this CD last time, and could go one better in the 7 furlongs race at 18.00, but Hulcote Rose (Sylvester Kirk/ John Doyle) looks a big danger; she won here last time over 6 furlongs, but gets this longer trip well enough.

The 5 furlongs race at 19.30 also looks open. Top-weight La Capriosa (David Nicholls/ Ian Mongan) showed good form when winning at Southwell last time, but seems to reserve his best performances for that track, while Grudge (Conor Dore/ Hayley Turner) runs his best races at Wolverhampton, where he has been first or second on the last 6 occasions he has run here. Sloop Johnb is another danger; he was slowly away when finishing third last time after an earlier win. With very poor traffic conditions, there are likely to be several non-runners, e.g. our original fancy Mr. Emirati in the first race.
