Huge fields at Deauville

The racing at Deauville is certainly of better quality than at the 3 British and Irish all-weather tracks today, but looks a minefield for punters, as there are huge fields - over 200 runners in 13 (!) races -possibly a French record- and luck in running will undoubtedly play a major role. There are 18 runners in the main fature, a listed race over 1900 metres at 14.55 CET, including 2 Germans - King of Sydney (Mario Hofer/ Flavien Prat) and Usbeke (Jean-Pierre Carvalho/ Thierry Jarnet). Both are in good form, but it looks a very tough race. Our tentative suggestion , despite top weight, is Pallodio (John Hammond/ Fabrice Veron), one of France´s top horses on this surface.
