Cheltenham only bright spot for N.H. fans

Today´s N.H. meetings at Ludlow and Taunton have been abandoned, while it is hoped to stage the Huntingdon meeting, including the valuable Peterborough Chase, also scheduled for today, on Sunday. Tomorrow´s meetings at Doncaster and Gowran Park in Ireland have already been cancelled, as is Doncaster´s Saturday fixture: Lingfield has a jumps meeting on Saturday, but if conditions do not improve (seems unlikely) will switch to a new all-weather card. The big Fairyhouse meeting, already rescheduled three times, including 3 Grade One races, is now planned to be staged on Saturday, but looks very doubtful. Prospects remain extremely unfavourable for N.H. racing for the next few days, with most areas under a deep blanket of snow and severe frosts at night. Particularly bad is the situation in Scotland, northern England and most of Ireland. The one bright spot is Cheltenham, and officials there seem confident that their big meeting tomorrow and Saturday will go ahead as planned.
