Deauville and Meydan

The racing at Deauville and Meydan is far better than the all-weather offerings in the U.K. today. Deauville once again has a huge card with 13 races and 210 runners declared. Main event is a listed race over 1500 metres at 14.55 CET. With 15 runners, luck in running will probably decide the issue. There are 3 German-trained runners here, including Kite Hunter (Mario and Steffi Hofer), arguably the best horse in the field, but he has to give weight way all round and is badly drawn as well. Le Big (Uwe Stoltefuss/ Jean-Michel Breux) is narrowly preferred to Amazing Beauty (Michael Figge/ Tony Piccone) of the other two Germans, while Beauchamp Viceroy (Ger Butler/ Dane O´Neill) is a dangerous raider from England. Polytechnicien (André Fabre/ Mikael Barzalona) is possibly the best of the French. There are several other German runners on the undercard, and we feel that Kuheylah Atil (Ralf Rohne/ Jerome Claudic) at 13.20 and Fellini (Mario Hofer/ Romain Briard) probably have the best chances.

The most valuable races of the day are run at the new Meydan track in Dubai, but the form is difficult to decipher. The two main events are conditions races over the extended mile at 17.35 and 18.10, in which we select Green Coast (Doug Watson/ Taghd O´Shea) and Monte Alto (Ali al Raihe/ Richard Hills) respectively.
