N.H. racing at Punchestown (Ireland) and Taunton

The Taunton card is not very exciting, but the 2 mile handicap chase at 16.10 CET could be a fast and furious affair, with front-runner Woodlark Island (David Pipe/ Tom Scudamore) expected to set a strong pace. The 4yo is in great form and loves the fast ground; he is running for the fourth time in three weeks but that does seem to bother him. Agente Romano (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney) looks the main danger.

Paul Nicholls´ Organisateur (Ian Popham) is likely to start at a short price in the novice hurdle at 15.40, but he has to concede a lot of weight and may prefer softer ground; even though he is probably the best horse in the field, he is not a good bet at the likely odds.

Paul Carberry looks the jockey to follow at Punchestown. He can take the first two races on Perfect Smile at 15.15 and Aitmatov half an hour later, both for Noel Meade, and he also has chances on Island Oscar for PA Roche in the novice hurdle at 16.15 and Lean Times in the maiden hurdle at 17.15. again for Meade- although this one may have to play second fiddle to Maggie Connolly (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh). The German-bred Aitmatov is the best bet here and should outclass this opposition.
