N.H. racing at Ludlow and Towcester

with the ground beginning to come right for jumping, there are some large fields - but not much quality - at Ludlow and Towcester this afternoon. A couple of decent hurdlers making their chasing debuts are the most interesting runners of the day - Michael Flips (Andrew Turnell/ Nick Scholfield) in the beginners chace over 2 miles at 16.00 CET at Towcester and Golan Way (Sheena West/ Jamie Goldstein) over half a mile further at 17.20 at Ludlow.

If their jumping holds up, both should win as on hurdling form they have plenty in hand. At Ludlow, the handicap chase over 3 miles at 16.20 looks quite open, but Estates Recovery (Philip Hobbs/ Richard Johnson), at 5 the youngest runner in the field of 15 and by far the least exposed, could well prove to be a cut above this opposition of his first run for 6 months.

At Towcester, we like Cinderella Rose (Kim Bailey/ Sean Quinlan) in the novice hurdle at 17.30; she was a good bumper performer and gets all the allowances here, while ex- German Sommersturm (Barney Curley/ Denis O´Regan) is a fascinating runner in the handicap hurdle at 16.30. This one time smart flat horse has shown very little so far for Barney, but that does not necessarily mean much and he has been given a very fair handicap rating.
