Galway Festival: day five

The big Galway meeting also continues today and although he did not win a race yesterday, Dermot Weld remains very much the trainer to follow. Natural High (Pat Smullen) is his candidate in the main feature, a handicap over 1 1/2 miles at 19.50 CET and is likely to start a warm favourite; he has won 3 of his career starts, including at this meeting last year, and is probably much better than a handicapper. Obviously there are plenty of dangers, headed by Laughing Boy (Willie Mullins/ Gary Carroll) and Aladdins Cave (Colm Murphy/ PB Beggy). It is quite possible that Weld´s debutant Manacor (Smullen) can win the 2yo maiden at 18.40, but we do not fancy his Raffaello Santi (Smullen) so much in the 3yo maiden at 20.25; Aidan O´Brien has 3 entered here and it looks as if Falcon Flight, the choice of stable jockey Johnny Murtagh, and who has only run once - when third last October - could be something special, as he has been entered in some top races.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Kalellshan - Down The Dale - Carutomark
2. Race: Manacor - When Not Iff - Unlikely Hero
3. Race: King Ali - Ballylanigan - Ah Ya Boy Ya
4. Race: Natural High - Aladdins Cave - Laughing Boy
5. Race: Quest For Gold - Falcon Flight - Battleoftrafalgar
6. Race: Days Ahead - Lady L - Elusive Art
7. Race: Salute Him - Pointilliste - Myrine
