Rest of the U.K. and Ireland today

There is plenty more racing today and theoretically the best event of the day is the Scurry Stakes for 3yo´s over 5 furlongs at Sandown at 16.30 CET. This is a listed race, although to be honest, very few of the 9 runners are up to genuine listed class. In a poor race, we hope that Reignier (John Weymes/ Ryan Moore) can get the better of Duchess Dora (John Quinn/ Ian Brennan). Ryan Moore could well be in for a profitable afternoon, as he has rides, most of them with good chances, in every race, usually for his father Gary or for his boss Sir Michael Stoute. He should certainly take the 10 furlongs maiden at 17.40 on Stoute´s Direct Answer (although Henry Cecil s well-bred debutant Channel Squadron, in the colours of Hoppegarten boss Gerhard Schöningh) could be a danger), while Amanda Perrett´s Coasting is an interesting outside ride. He was a useful 2yo but then was off the track for almost 3 years before making an excellent comeback at Newmarket last month; if he doesn´t "bo unce", he can follow up here.

There is also flat racing this afternoon at Bath (Seb Sanders the jockey to follow here), and this evening at Leicester, Lingfield (all-weather) and Limerick (Ireland), and N.H. racing at Hexham. The best race at these meetings is the 5 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 19.30 at Leicester, in which all 7 runners have a chance; Stoute´s Racy (Louis-Philippe Beuzelin) may be able to confirm his latest running with top-weight Monsieur Jo (Walter Swinburn/ Eddie Ahern).
