Monday´s U.K. racing

nothing very exciting on the menu at today´s 4 meetings in the U.K. - Pontefract and Wolverhampton (a.w.) in the afternoon, and Musselburgh and Windsor in the evening. The vast majority of the races are class 5 or 6. Best event is the Spindrifter Conditions Stakes for 2yo´s over 6 furlongs at 16.15 CET at Pontefract, where all 7 runners are previous winners. Only one of them is unbeaten- Drawing Board (Kevin Ryan/ Richard Mullen), but we prefer the third place in better company of Premier Clarets (Richard Fahey/ Paul Hanagan), while Planet Waves (Clive Brittain/ Neil Callan), who had no chance in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, is taking a significant drop in class here and could well come out best, with the stable´s juveniles in great form. Brittain and Callan also have chance in the fillies handicap half an hour later with Yawary, but here we prefer top-weight Kerry´s Requiem (Mick Channon/ Sam Hitchcott), a winner at Goodwood last time and pulled out of a tougher race last week to wait for this.
Frankie Dettori has two rides at Wolverhampton for trainer Michael Jarvis. Toolain, in the 2yo maiden at 16.30, can make up for his mishap last time at Sandown, where he looked like winning easily before his saddle slipped and he deposited Frankie on the ground. An hour later Yashrid, runner-up at Newbury but now running for the first time on the all-weather, can take the 1 1/2 handicap for 3yo´s, but this is quite a tricky race.
