Leicester, Redcar and Yarmouth

Tuesday is often the weakest day of the week for the quality of racing and that is the case again today. Most of the top jockeys will be at Leicester this afternoon. Frankie Dettori is here to partner Godolphin´ s Roayd (Saeed bin Suroor) in the 2yo maiden at 17.45 CET, while the stable´s other runner Greek Island (Mahmoud al Zarooni) is partnered by Ahmed Ajtebi. In view of the in and out form of Saeed´s runners, this race should be left alone.

However Frankie´s rides for Ed Dunlop look promising, and both Red Gulch in the 7 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 17.15 and the Monsun filly Akamon over 10 furlongs have chances, although the latter faces a tough opponent in Sir Mark Prescott´ s top-weight Comedy Act (Seb Sanders), n asy winnr at Newcastle last time. Finally, Frankie rides that admirable veteran The Tatling for Milton Bradley in the 5 furlongs handicap at 18.15. At the age of 13, and with 135 races behind him, The Tatling is no longer as speedy or as reliable as he used to be, but he is now running off a very low mark and is certainly capable of winning here if in the right mood.

Barry Hills sends some potential winners up to Redcar, with his twin sons Richard and Michael in the saddle, and is unlikely to return home empty-handed. Madany (Richard) has obvious chances in the 2yo maiden at 15.30, while Evelyn May (Michael) in the 5 furlongs handicap at 17.00 and Grey Bunting (Michael) in the 10 furlongs maiden at 17.30 also have good prospects; Henry Cecil´s well-bred newcmer Clearly Cryptonite (Tom Queally) looks the only danger to Grey Bunting.

Quite a few of these move on to Yarmouth´s evening meeting, where Sir Mark Prescott and Seb Sanders should complete an across-the-card double with Aestival, top-weight in the 10 furlongs handicap at 21.55. Despite not acting on the course, he trotted up last week at Brighton and looks as if he could run up a sequence. Anne of Kiev(Jeremy Gask/ Steve Drowne) is another recent winner who can follow up under top-weight at 21.25, while earlier Michael Bell and Hayley Turner can combine for a double with Margot Did in the 2yo novice event at 18.45 and Collect Art in the 3yo handicap at 20.50.
