German runners at Strasbourg

A huge number of German-trained runners descend on Strasbourg today, too many for us to discuss all of them individually. But there are 2 or more Germans running in every race, with the sole exception of the steeplechase at 16.40 CET. The ground will be very soft, and the Germans with the best chances are in our opinion Nelson (Andreas Löwe/ Christophe Soumillon) in the opening 3000 metres handicap at 13.35, Possiano (Andrea Bertram/ Paul Johnson) over hurdles at 14.35, Sir Oscar (Dr. Bolte/ Soumillon) in the 3yo conditions race at 15.05, Scolari (Torsten Mundry/ Soumillon) in a race for older horses at 15.40 and Gyrona (Andreas Trybuhl/ Ioritz Mendizibal) in the second division of the 3000 metres handicap at 17.10. However none of these races are exactly easy. Our biggest fancy is Scolari; the Monsun 5yo must live up to an impressive family record, as both his younger half-brothers Skylor and Scalo are unbeaten so far in 2010.
