Ireland this evening

Leopardstown stages a good card this evening, with the Group Three Ballyogan Stakes over 6 furlongs for fillies and mares at 20.05 CET as the main feature. 3 of the 10 runners are trained in Britain, with Beyond Desire (Michael Jarvis/ Pat Smullen), an odds-on listed winner at Haydock last time, as possibly the best of them. But the home team looks strong, with Miss Gorica (Joanna Morgan/ Wayne Lordan) one of their main hopes.

She won a listed race at Naas only on Monday but she is in foal and should run well again. However we prefer Atasari (Jim Bolger/ Kevin Manning), back in distance after making no show in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. David Wachman´s Glorified is another interesting runner. She won her only start very easily, a modest maiden at Dundalk, but it could be significant that Johnny Murtagh prefers to partner her rather than two Aidan O´Brien runners in the same ownership.

Main supporting feature is the listed mile race at 20.35. Recharge (Kevin Prendergast/ Chris Hayes) is our choice here; he has been runner-upo 3 times running, but the last time was to Fame and Glory, arguably the best older horse in Europe, and that form - even though he was beaten a long way- should suffice here. The Aga Khan´s consistent Rayeni (John Oxx/ Fran Berry) looks next best.

There is also N.H. racing at Clonmel, with mainly large fields. However there are 6 runners in the novice chase at 20.45, which could go to Warcraft (Michael Hourigan/ AP Heskin).
