French Oaks at Chantilly

The Aga Khan has an excellent chance of improving his already outstanding record in the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) at Chantilly at 16.04 CET today, with 3 of the 9 runners in his colours. Sarafina (Christophe Lemaire) is the obvious favourite, but stable companion Rosanara (Gerald Mossé), also trained by Alain de Royer-Dupré, should not be overlooked, as she was running on strongly when a close 5th in the French 1,000 Guineas despite being badly hampered early in the straight. André Fabre has his string in brilliant form, and saddles the main danger in Deluxe (Maxime Guyon), while the supplemented Sandbar (Francis Rohaut/ Olkivier Peslier) can also make the frame. There are no foreign runners in the Diane, but Mario Hofer has two chances of being placed in the supporting group races, with Lamool (Dominique Boeuf) in the Prix du Lys for 3yo´s over 2400 metres at 14.35 and Noble Alpha (Mosse´) in the Prix Paul de Moussac for 3yo´s over a mile at 16.50. However Werner Baltromei ´s König Bernard (Guyon) is only an outsider in the mile race for older horses at 17.25.
