Bath, Kempton and Naas (Ireland) this evening

Plenty of runners at Kempton this evening, with several of the 8 races with a maximum field of 14 runners. The exception is the race for 2yo novices at 20.50 CET, in which Sir Mark Prescott´ s Coeus has only 3 opponents. It could be a good day for the in-form Prescott/ Sanders team, and they can also take the 2 mile handicap with last week´s CD winner Ultimate Quest at 19.20, and the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 20.50 with Speed Dating.

The 2yo maiden at 20.20 could well go to Godolphin, who have two engaged- Postscript (Ahmed Ajtebi) and debutant Deep South (Frankie Dettori). Dettori also has two promising rides for Mark Johnston- Honest Broker in the 3yo handicap at 19.50 and Solicitor over a mile at 22.20.

The going will be firm at Bath (they have no watering system) and the fields are small. The 3yo handicap over 5 furlongs at 20.40 could mainly concern Humidor (Roger Charlton/ Steve Drowne) and Leleyf (Mick Channon/ Sam Hitchcott), recently second and fourth in a similar race at Windsor. The latter is now better off at the weights, so there could be little in it this time.

There is also racing at Naas in Ireland, but less classy than usual at this track. Aidan O´Brien has now come back to form with a bang, and can wscore an imperial double with his only two runners of the evening, Ice Empress (Sean Levey) in the fillies maiden at 21.30, and Emperor Claudius (with son Joseph in the saddle) in the 3yo conditions race at 22.00, who has only 2 opponents to beat.
