Werner Hefter at Fontainebleau

It may be Good Friday, but there is a full programme of racing in France, with the highlight at Fontainebleau with the listed Prix Cor de Chasse over 1100 metres at 14.35. This has attracted a strong field, headed by top-weight Tiza (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Dominique Boeuf) and Contest (Costa Theodotakris/ Gregoire Benoist), who finished first and second here a year ago. A big danger is Blue Cayenne (SV Tarrou/ Raphael Marcelli), who won a similar race over this CD last November. German interests are here represented by the speedy Best Joking (Werner Hefter/ Johan Victoire), one of the fastest horses trained in this country. She definitely has prospects of finishing in the frame, but it is a hot race. Hefter also saddles top-weight Rocket Man in the 3yo handicap over 2000 metres at 16.10. Rocket Man won both his starts last year, both at Strasbourg, but is difficult to assess. He is obviously useful but may struggle to give weight away all round here.
