U.K. racing today

There is plenty of racing in the U.K. today, with Sandown staging a good flat card, rather lower grade flat racing at Wolverhampton, and N.H. racing this afternoon at Perth (the last day of their meeting), and this evening at Bangor, Chepstow and Newton Abbot. Main event is the Group Three Classic Trial over 10 furlongs at Sandown at 14.45 CT. Only 7 runners, but this could be quite informative.

John Dunlop clearly has some smart 3yo´s in his Arundel yard and can take this with Waseet (Richard Hills), although Goidolphin´s Chabal (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori) had the better 2yo form. Azmeel (John Gosden/ William Buick) also looks very dangerous. The 3yo handicap over a mile here at 14.10 also has some useful types engaged. Huygens (Denis Coakley/ Eddie Ahern) won in good style last time, but it is not sure that he can give weight to Duellist (Mark Johnston/ Dettori) or Invincible Soul (Richard Hannon/ Ryan Moore), while Fallen Idol looks another likely improver for the Gosden/ Buick team and is a tentative selection.
Nigel Twiston-Davies usually targets this Perth meeting and has several fancied runners today- we expect to see Rory Boy, top weight in the novice chase at 15.40 and Petite Margot, in the Highland National at 16.45, both partnered by stable jockey Paddy Brennan, run well, as well as Viking Blond, ridden by the trainer´s son Sam, in the staying handicap hurdle at 16.15.
