Top flat racing as well at Sandown

The main event on the flat at Sandown is the Group Two Bet365 Mile at 16.40, which was won last year by Paco Boy (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes), who is the highest-rated horse in the field and could well double up. However the improving Confront (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) could well frustrate him today. Pressing (Michael Jarvis/ Neil Callan) is another smart performer, but he has to give weight away all round as a result of his Group One win in Munich last year. He is being again aimed at Munich and Istanbul (where he also won last year) and may need this race.

Jarvis probably has a better chance with Laaheb (Richard Hills) in the Group Three Gordon Richards Stakes over 10 furlongs at 17.15. He won 4 of his last 5 starts last season and looks capable of scoring at this level. Dangers are Steele Tango (Ron Teal/ Liam Keniry) and Tranquil Tiger (Henry Cecil/ Tom Queally), who met at Newmarket recently and especially Crowded House (Brian Meehan/ Kieren Fallon). The latter was a top 2yo in 2008, but last season was virually a washout; however he ran a couple of good races in Dubai and if anywhere near his old best form, should win this.
