Fairyhouse Easter Festival, final day

the fourth and final day of the Fairyhouse Easter meeting is of much lower quality than the previous three days, with no graded races at all. The most interesting event is the FEGENTRI handicap hurdle at 16.15 with 21 runners, most of them partnered by Irish amateurs. The German representative Marian Falk Weissmeier rides Baileys Encore for VP Donoghue, who was in good form when last seen - but that was 18 months ago. Under the circumstances it may be safer to go with the French jockey, Florent Guy widely regarded as the best amateur in Europe- who partners Benefit Gale for trainer Willie Burke. There are some large fields, including 25 in the maiden hurdle for 6yo´s and older at 15.45 - which on form can only be won by ither Sicilian Secret (Willie Mullins/ Ruby Walsh) or Taking Stock (John Kiely/ Tony McCoy) - but only 5 run in the most valuable event at 16.45. On Cheltenham form Prince Erik (Dermot Weld/ Robbie Power) should hold Smoking Aces (Tom Taaffe/ McCoy) and take this.
