Cheltenham today

Cheltenham´s April meeting continues today with another good card, large fields and very competitive racing. The main event is the listed mares handicap hurdle at 16.20 CET, whch looks very tricky. Both Nicky Henderson and Nigel Twiston-Davies saddle two runners with chances here, and although her recent form figures do not inspire confidence, we shall take a chance with My Petra (Henderson/ Tony McCoy).

The staying handicap hurdle at 16.55 is another very open race, also with 17 runners, and German-bred Fredo (Ian Williams/ Dougie Costello), although he flopped at the big meeting, could go well here. Grands Crus (David Pipe/ Tom Scudamore), Galaxy Rock, from the Grand National winning team of Jonjo O´Neill and McCoy, and consistent Triggerman (Philip Hobbs/ Richard Johnson) look very dangerous. Hobbs and Johnson should in any case take the opening novice hurdle with the very promising Captain Chris, who has won both his starts in impressive style. The German-bred Salden Licht (Alan King/ Robrt Thornton) would be a big danger here, but the stable form continues to be extremely frustrating.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Captain Chris - Pepe Simo - Spring Jim
2. Race: Bormo - Sound Stage - Wheels Up
3. Race: Amber Brook - Easter Legend - Kerada
4. Race: Triggerman - Grands Crus - Galaxy Rock
5. Race: Templer - Breaking Silence - Theatre Diva
6. Race: Line Freedom - Valbuena - Aneyeforaneye
7. Race: Semi Colon - Sudden Beat - Sparky May
