Wolverhampton today

Wolverhampton today stages one of its best cards of the year, and the most interesting event is the Lincoln Trial, a valuable handicap over the extended mile at 16.25. This is a very open race with 13 runners, including last year´s winner Jamie Spencer. After some below-par performances, he came back to form with an easy win last time, but is not so well handicapped now as a result. Tartan Gigha (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning) ran two excellent races at Meydan, and a repetition of those forms would probably be good nough, but the return from Dubai to the British winter could be a problem (the same goes for the stable´s Lovelace in the listed race earlier). Our choice is therefore Fanunalter (Marco Botti/ Ryan Moore), who is lightly raced and capable of improvement.

Botti could be in for a good afternoon, as we also like his other runners. he saddles Souters Sister (Jimmy Fortune) in the opening listed race over 7 furlongs, where the danger is Clive Brittain´s Mahadee (Neil Callan), already twice a winner this year. In another good handicap, this time over furlongs at 17.35, Botti has booked Andrea Atzeni for his runner Orpenindeed and he is also on our short list. Kevin Ryan´ s Tiddliwinks (Spencer) would be our selection, but he is badly drawn, so we prefer the stable´s other runner Bajan Tryst (Neil Callan), while Thebes (Mark Johnston/ Greg Fairley), who won this last year and is a recent CD winner, can never be left out.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Mahadee - Mia`S Boy - Dunelight
2. Race: Burghley - Edinburgh Knight - Niran
3. Race: Flipando - Tartan Gigha - Fanunalter
4. Race: Il Forno - Clear Ice - Micky`S Knock Off
5. Race: Tiddliwinks - Thebes - Dubai Dynamo
6. Race: William`s Way - Benedict Spirit - Doubnov
7. Race: Fighter Boy - Layla`S Boy - Heliocentric
