Top card at Lingfield Park

Lingfield stages its biggest raceday of the year, with theGroup Three Winter Derby over 10 furlongs at 16.35 as the main feature. This has attracted a strong field, including a challenger from France, John Hammond´s Pallodio (Yann Lerner), who won the big race on fibregrass at the recent Cagnes sur mer meeting. However this form is possibly not good enough, and the best chances are held by Tranquil Tiger (Henry Cecil/ Tom Queally), who won his two last two races, both over this CD, and Soul City (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes), a smart 2yo who has not run since last June´s Royal Ascot.

The listed Spring Cup for 3yo´s over 7 furlongs at 16.00 can go to Greyfriarschorista (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning), who has won his last 3 races in great style and is expected to take this step up in grade equally easily. The other listed race is over 5 furlongs at 1745. It was won last year by Arganil (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan), who finished - with several others from this field- behind Jaconet (David Barron/ Phillip Makin) last time. However that was over 6 furlongs, and over the minimum distance we rate Arganil the better.
