Kelso, Plumpton and Wolverhampton

No chance of any high class action at any of today´s 3 British meetings. The only possible star on view is Clive Brittain´s well-bred filly Srda (Seb Sanders), who runs in the 3yo handicap over 9 1/2 furlongs at 16.50 CET at Wolverhampton´s all-weather meeting. She won on her debut at Lingfield over 6 furlongs, but is now moving up in distance, but as an Oaks entry, she should stay this far and more. If she has any pretensions to holding her own in good company, she must win this off a very modest handicap mark. The maiden race here over 1 1/2 miles here could also be interesting. Mark Johnston´s well-bred debutant Dancing Dude (Joe Fanning) is the forecast favourite, but it is asking a lot to expect 3yo to defeat older horses first time out in March. 5yo Boa (Reg Hollinshead/ Graham Gibbons), who was third over this CD last time, has only ever run twice on the flat, but has been placed over hurdles and could be a rewarding each-way alternative.

Over jumps at Kelso, Howard Johnson and Denis O´Regan could be the team to follow. They have several good chances, including Hold Fast in the novice hurdle at 15.10 -pulled up last time, but his previous form was good enough- Marleybow, top-weight in the novices handicap chase at 15.40 and the improving Blacks Bridge, who is up in grade but can complete a hat-trick in the handicap chase an hour later. An interesting opponent here is Quicuyo (Peter Monteith/ Ryan Mania); this own-brother to Quijano has not run for 13 months, but is on a very reasonable mark and will be suited by the better ground.

Another improver who can complete a hat-trick off a low weight is Portrait Royale (Anna Newton-Smith/ Aidan Coleman) in the staying handicap chase at 18.00 at Plumpton. An easy CD winner last time, he meets better opposition now but can still score again. Another who can complete a hat-trick is Willandrich (Ian Williams/ Trevor Whelan), who runs in the conditional jockeys handicap hurdle at 17.30. He won 3 successive races in June 2007, and was then off the track for 2 1/2 years, but now seems to be in top form. German-bred Aconitum, a son of Monsun, looks the main threat. Talenti (Lawney Hill/ Christian Williams) was a very easy winner at 16-1 at Huntingdon and can defy a penalty in the novice hurdle here at 16.00, but at much shorter odds.
