German runners in Compiegne today

Compiegne is easily reached from Germany and there are German-trained runners in 4 of the 8 races there today. Fareion (Sascha Smcrzek/ Dominique Boeuf) and Thalamon (Peter Schiergen/ Andrasch Starke) start the ball rolling when they contest the opening tiercé handicap over a mile at 13.35. Both of them have run often enough in France and could play a role here, especially the latter if he can get an easy lead, but as always this is a very tough race. Boeuf also partners Canali in the 2000 metres race over 4yo´s at 15.40, and Sumatra Tiger in the concluding mile handicap at 17.10, both trained by Werner Baltromei. Sumatra Tiger has already won twice in France this year, but is now on a much higher rating. Other German runners on the card are Isolke (Andreas Löwe/ Hardouin) in the 3yo claimer at 15.05, and Godfreyson (Andreas Trybuhl/ Thierry Thulliez) in the 2400 metres claimer at 16.40. Godfreyson is in good form but faces a massive task under top weight. Ex-German Figo lo oks dangerous here, but our fancy is the ex-English Group Captain (Alex Fracas/ Olivier Peslier), who is not the most consistent but has been running in much better company.
