German runner in France today

The winter meeting at Cagnes sur mer ends on Saturday and before long the main focus will move to the north of France. Today sees the first turf racing of the year in the Paris region, a N.H. meeting at Fontainebleau. From the German point of view, the main event is the Prix General General Marion, a hurdle race over 3550 metres for 4yo´s at 15.20, in which Peter Schiergen´s Karibiksturm (Paul Johnson) faces 15 opponents.

Karibiksturm is not much good on the flat but seems to be a talented hurdler and won twice in the French provinces last autumn. He must have a good chance in this company, and another German-bred Always Spring (Robert Collet/ Cyril Gombeau) looks the main danger.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Rosa D`Anjou - Buck`S Brook - Carambole
2. Race: Ginko Biloba - Edward Rabbit - Biwa
3. Race: Deusta Carnoet - Prince Wladimir - Reine Des Garennes
4. Race: Karibiksturm - Seigneur Des Bois - Always Spring
5. Race: Qualia Grandchamp - Beau Domage - Pommerol
6. Race: Kotkiti - Nicolas Du Clos - Pacifick
7. Race: Queen Zia - Rafune De Ladalka - Longue Attente
8. Race: Panda Deurie - Quitus De Thaix - Calling Home
