All-weather racing at Lingfield and Kempton

The all-weather action today is at Lingfield this afternoon and Kempton this evening. The huge number of all-weather meetings is beginning to show, and some of the fields are very small. Only 4 line up for Lingfield´s 10 furlongs handicap for 3yo´s at 16.20, but all of them are last-time-out winners. Top weight Whippers Cove (Mark Johnston/ Joe Fanning) will be expected to continue thw satble´s good run, but preference is for Rock a Doodle Do(Willie Jarvis/ Jim Crowley), who has won his last 2 races, including this CD, very easily. The 2 mile handicap at 17.25 has 8 runners, and both George Baker´s will be involved here. The trainer saddles Sinbad the Sailor (Tony Culhane), while the jockey rides Gary Moore´s Prince Charlemagne, and both of them are on the short list.

Many of the jockeys travel on to the Kempton meeting, where again there are some very small fields, with 4 running in the 3yo handicap over 1 1/2 miles at 20.30. Here again Mark Johnston and Joe Fanning team up with the top-weight Exemplary, and although he has not run since September, we expect this one to win. In the other 3yo handicap, over 7 furlongs at 21.00, the Johnson/ Fanning team run Seamster, who also has a good chance, but Clive Brittain´s Niran (Seb Sanders), who last ran in the July Stakes (!) looks a big danger.
