Dubai Racing Carnival

The Dubai Racing Carnival goes into its penultimate meeting today and the main feature is the Group Three Balanchine for fillies and mares over 9 furlongs on turf at 18.45 CET. The obvious favourite here is Aspectoflove (Saeed bin Suroor/ Frankie Dettori), who was a close second in the Cape Verdi here with several of these behind, but Zirconeum (Mike de Kock/ Kevin Shea), badly hampered on that occasion, and Deem (Jerry Barton/ Olivier Peslier) could be dangerous.

The UA Oaks at 17.25 is also virtually a re-run of a race run earlier at the meeting- the UAE 1,000 Guineas, in which Godolphin´s Siyaadah (Ahmed Ajtebi) came with a tremendous burst of speed to win at 50-1. She can prove today that that was no fluke, although de Kock` s Raihana (Christophe Soumillon)- hot favourite then- should run better this time.

The main German interest today will be in the DRC Gold Cup over 2 miles on turf at 19.20, in which Manfred Hofer´s Titurel (Peslier) attempts to make up for a rather unlucky run last week. However in our vw today´s distance is much more suitabl and we expect him to finish in th mony. The obvious dangers are the 4 runners from the Saeed bin Suroor stable,of which Age of Reason (Dettori) and Whispering Gallery (Ted Durcan) look the best. The other German-trained entry today Abbashiva is a non-runner.
