More weather woes

The UK and Ireland remain in the grip of wintry weather, which will continue to play havoc with fixtures for the foreseeable future. Today´s N.H. meetings at Huntingdon, Ludlow and Thurles (Ireland) are all off, as are tomorrow´s at Bangor and Fontwell. The chances of any N.H. racing taking place in the next few days looks very remote, with only Ffos Las on Saturday holding out any hope (and then not much).

Even the so-called "all-weather" tracks are not immune, as we saw yesterday. Today´s a.w. meeting at Southwell seems almost certain to go ahead, but there are still inspections to come at Lingfield and Kempton as well as for Wolverhampton tomorrow. The problem is not only the snow on the track but also the dangerous conditions of the approach roads. Even if racing goes ahead, there are likely to be non-runners because of the poor traffic conditions.
later: Lingfield and Kempton both abandoned today! also Ffos Las (Saturday) has been called off, so that there will be no N.H. racing for the next 5 days at least.
