All-weather racing at Southwell and Wolverhampton

More run of the mill racing at today´s two all-weather meetings. The best race at Southwell is the mile handicap at 15.20 CET, which has 14 runners and looks wide open. Transmission (Bryan Smart/ Tom Eaves), Ours (John Harris/ Barry McHugh) and Hit the Switch (Pat Morris/ James Sullivan) all won at this track recently and perhaps one of them can follow up.

An interesting runner here is Dubai Creek (Donald McCain/ Paul Hanagan), who is trained at a top jumping stable. He was noted running on well here last time over 1 mile 3 furlongs and can win the maiden race over a furlong further at 15.50, as the opposition does not look that strong.

At Wolverhampton´s twilight meeting, the 1 1/2 mile handicap at 18.50 looks the best event. Top-weight Baylini (Jacqui Doyle/ Adam Kirby) is a useful performer in this grade, but may find the trip too far, and we prefer Paktolos (John Harris/ Mark Coumbe), who won here over further just two days ago, and Dance the Star (Davod Simcock/ Jamie Spencer), whose trainer and jockey are in good form. The 6 furlongs handicap an hour earlier is also quite a decent race.Onceuponatime (Michael Squance/ Luke Morris) won over this CD recently and is still nicely weighted, but our choice is top-weight Vhujon (David and Richard Evans), who has not won for a long time but has frequently run well in better races.
