Huntingdon, Ludlow and Taunton

big race of the day is the Peterborough Chase over 2 1/2 miles at 15.00 CET, Huntingdon´s most important race of the season, which has attracted a high class field. Alberta´s Run (Jonjo O´Neill)/ Tony McCoy), Deep Purple (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney) and Herecomesthetruth (Paul Nicholls/ Christian Williams) all won at this Grade Two level last time out but are penalised 10 lbs as a result. On these terms we prefer Tidal Wave (Howard Johnson / Penis O´Regan), who looks as he is coming back to form after a disappointing season, and especially Racing Demon (Henrietta Knight/ Graham Lee), who has not run for 20 months but won this race in 2006 and 2007; "Hen" has in fact won it 7 times in the last 10 years! Despite the strong card at Huntingdon, it is noticeable that some of the top jockeys are riding elsewhere. Paul Nicholls and Alan King, for example, have ordered Ruby Walsh and Robert Thornton to Taunton, and it would be no surprise to see them fight out the finish of 3 races: the novice hurdle at 14.20 with Valentine Vic and Little George, the novice chase half an hour later with Recif de Thaix and Cracboumwitz, and another half an hour later, the novice hurdle with Tito Bustillo and The Betchworth Kid respectively. The last-named, who was group class on the flat, is our tip of the day. Meanwhile Nicky Henderson has sent two runners to Ludlow, accompanied by stable jockey Barry Geraghty, Acordeon in the novice chase at 14.10 and debutant Ceilidh Royle in the mares bumper at 16.40.
