German runners at Deauville

Deauville´s December meeting gets under way today with huge fields and 12 races, 4 in the morning session (midi) and 8 in the main afternoon session. Mein event is the listed Prix Luthier over 1500 metres at 14.25 with 16 runners. Likely favourite here is the Aga Khan´s Dalghar (Alain de Royer-Dupre / J-B Eyquem), but he has a bad draw and the British raider Red Dune (Michael Jarvis/ FX Bertras) can be preferred.

There are no German runners in this, but plenty on the undercard. Mario Hofer saddles 2 2yo´s with Gaetan Masure in the saddle, Imasci at 11.20 and Sunmoonroyale half an hour later, as well as Royal Pepper ( Vincent Vion) in the 1900 metres claimer at 15.25, in which Sina (Sascha Smcrzek/ Eric Wehrel) is also engaged, as well as several ex-Germans. Smcrzek also has Beltana running in the 3yo race over 1300 metres at 12.50, but in our view the best German hope of the day is Waldemar Hickst´s Atila Sher Danon at 14.55.
