German runners in France today

The Paris turf season is almost at an end but there is a good card at Saint-Cloud today, featuring two listed races, both with German runners. In the race for 2yo´s over a mile at 14.10 Peter Schiergen runs the much-improved Good Hope (Andrasch Starke), who ran an excellent second at Munich last time, while Andreas Löwe´s Classic Summer (Gaetan Masure) contests the 1400 metres for 3yo fillies at 15.10.

There are several more German runners on the undercard. In the opening race for 2yo´s over 2000 metres, Werner Baltromei runs Sommertraum(Dominique Boeuf). In the first division of the 2400 metres handicap at 13.40, Nelson (Michael Trybuhl/ Ioritz Mendizibal) and Captain Camelot (Dr. Bolte/ Henk Grewe) both run, while in the second division Andreas Trybuhl´s Gyrona, also with Mendi in the saddle, is a challenger. The German handicappers are all in good form, but these two races have huge fields and look very tough. Good Hope seems the most likely of the German runners to bring home some prize-money today.
