German runners in France today

the Aga Khan has enojoyed another successful season and can end the year on a high note with Rosanara (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Christophe Lemaire) in the Criterium International for 2yo´s over a mile at 14.00 today at Saint-Cloud, the last French Group One of 2009. The only filly in the field of 7, she is very highly rated and it will be a surprise if she gets beaten today. The opposition includes 2 runners each from England and Ireland. Frankie Dettori has been re-routed to France following the news that Kirklees will not run in the Melboune Cup, but the most he can hope for is probably second place with Godolphin´s Emerald Commander. There are several German runners on the undercard, including a strong challenge for the Group Three Prix Perth over a mile at 14.35. King of Sydney (Mario Hofer/ Maxime Guyon), Shützenjunker (Uwe Ostmann/ Yann Lerner) and Usbeke (Jean-Pierre Carvalho/ Thierry Thulliez) are the German candidates in an international field here, and the first two c ertainly have good prospects of playing a prominent role. Of the other German runners today, we expect Shaw (Hans-Walter Hiller/ D. Bellocq), who will love the heavy ground, to run well in the amateur riders race at 16.20.
