Breeders Cup: second day

This evening is the second, and much stronger, day of the Breeders Cup meeting at Santa Anita, with 8 top-class races beginning at 19.45 CET with the Juvenile Turf over a mile. The turf races give the Europeans their best chances and there are 4 of them in this field- Pounced (John Gosden/ Frankie Dettori), Viscount Nelson (Aidan O´Brien/ Johnny Murtagh), Awesome Act (Jeremy Noseda/ Ryan Moore) and Buzzword (Saeed bin Suroor/ Ahmed Ajtebi). This is followed by the Turd Sprint at 20.23, in which surprisingly there is only one European runner - Noseda´s Strike the Deal (Kieren Fallon). However Richard Mandella´s Lord Shanakill was formerly trained by Karl Burke, but local hope California Flag is the likely favourite here. Noseda also has a runner in the BC Sprint at 21.20, Fleeting Spirit (Dettori) who has been first or second on all his starts in top European races this season; but Zensational and Gayego, from Godolphin´s U.S. string, look the two strongest in this race.
