N.H. racing at Huntingdon

there are on the whole only small fields at Huntingdon today. The biggest field and easily the most competitive race is the 2 mile handicap hurdle at 17.00 CET. This looks wide open with several possible winners, including German-bred Weststern (Gary Moore/ Eamonn Dehdashti), who has however been off the track since May. Mayor of Kilcock (Peter Bowen/ Tony McCoy) is also coming off a break, while Dark Energy (Michael and Tom Scudamore) was a narrow winner last week from Huguenot (Philip Hobbs/ Rhys Flint), who is now 7 lbs better off and should theoretically be able to reverse the form. Our idea of the winner however is Mesbaah (Richard Fahey/ Brian Hughes), who is only modest on the flat but has taken well to hurdling and was an easy winner at Perth last time. We also expect Viva Colonia (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily) to take the novice hurdle at 16.30 and Toby Jug (Mrs. Humphreys/ Aidan Coleman) to follow up an easy Newton Abbot win in the 3 miles novice chase at 17.30.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Grand Bay - Phone In - Amazing Valour
2. Race: Rio Laine - It`S A Roofer - Ortega
3. Race: Penyfan Dawn - Viva Colonia - Mid Valley
4. Race: Mesbaah - Overrule - Mayor Of Kilcock
5. Race: Toby Jug - Pairc Na Gcapall - Whatever Next
6. Race: Swing State - Alwaysonthemove - Rudanphast
