Leicester and Newcastle

mainly large fields of mainly moderate animals at today´s flat meetings at Leicester and Newcastle. The only exceptions are the two conditions races at Leicester with 6 runners each. It is quite likely that Saeed bin Suroor and Frankie Dettori can win them both, with Dawnbreak in the 2yo race at 16.10 CT and Moonlife in the mile race for fillies half an hour later. Moonlife has not run since a very poor effort at Royal Ascot, but the stable was way out of form then and is now firing on all cylinders; she is easily the best on ratings here and is our best bet of the day. Another possible Godolphin winner here is debutant Treasure Town in the 2yo maiden at 17.40, but Botanist (Sir Michael Stoute/ Ryan Moore) looks a tough nut to crack, having been beaten only a nose at Sandown last time. An interesting runner at Leicester at possibly more rewarding odds is Barney Curley´s Agapanthus (Tom Queally) in the final 10 furlongs handicap at 18.40. Although Barney´s runners are not that consistent, it should not be forgotten that this one was a Schlenderhan hope for the German classics last year and is now racing off a mark of only 71. Godolphin coud also be on the scoresheet at Newcastle, where they have well-bred newcomers Addahab and Burnett engaged in the two mile races for 2yo maidens at 14.50 and 15.20 (Woodford Belle and Pytheas look the dangers on public form). Ted Durcan rides them both, and has a further good chance with Mark Tompkins´ Astrodiva in the maiden race over 1 1/ 2 miles at 16.50.
