N.H. racing at Carlisle, Ludlow and Thurles (Ireland)

probably the best jumps races today are at Carlisle and trainer Howard Johnson and his stable jockey Denis O´Regan, who have a good record here, look the team to follow. River Music in the long-distance maiden hurdle at 15.10 CET and Doeslessthan me in the novice chase at 15.40, bot appear to have winning chances and in the handicaps Whisky Magic at 16.15, Blue Pois at 16.45 and Blacks Bridge at 17.15 are also in with good prospects, although we expect Toy Gun in the handicap chase at 17.45 to have to play second fiddle behind impressive last-time-winner Ballynure (Lucinda Russell/ Campbell Gillies). The best race at Ludlow is the 2 mile handicap chase at 18..00, in which the much-improved Zorro de la Vega (Mrs. S.J. Humphrey/ Charlie Huxley) can complete an October hat-trick; Phoenix Eye (Michael Mullineaux/ Barney Toomey) and New Rackheath (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney) look the main dangers. There are the usual huge fields at the Irish meeting at Thurles.
The classiest event here is the 23/4 mile hurdle race at 17.55, in which Schindlers Hunt (Dessie Hughes/ Paddy Flood), Glenfinn Captain (Tom Taaffe/ Bárry Geraghty) and Oscar Dan Dan (Tony Mullins/ Ruby Walsh) hold the best chances. An interesting runner here is Garde Champetre (Enda Bolger/ Nina Carberry) but this top cross-country performer and multiple festival winner at Cheltenham and Punchestown is probably just warming up for his speciality discipline and will in any case find this trip too short.
