Goodwood, Lingfield and Sedgefield (N.H.)

Tuesday´s cards are usually poor in the UK, but Goodwood has some decent racing today, headed by the listed race over 7 furlongs for 2yo´s at 16.45 CET. 9 jveniöls line up, all with good form to their credit, and it is interesting that Frankie Dettori has picked Atlantis Star, rather than Vale of York (Ahmed Ajtebi), whose form is arguably superior, from Godolphin´s two runners. Mata Keranjang (Paul Cole/ Martin Dwyer) was below form last time, but before that ran really well this CD and he is the highest-rated runner. Kieren Fallin rode 3 winners yesterday for the Luca Cumani stable and they are now represented by Field of Dream, who has won his starts so far; they were in Italy and he is penalisd as a result, so it would be a surpise if he wins in this company.

Mon Cadeaux (Andrew Balding/ William Buick) won well last time and also comes in to the reckoning. A more likely winner for the Cumani/ Fallon team is Day of th Eagle in the 3yo maiden at 17.20; he has Custody (Sir Michael Stoute/ Neil Callan) and Charger (Jeremy Noseda/ Dettori) to beat. At Lingfield, the first 3 races are run on turf and the last 4 on the all-weather. Roger Charlton and Steve Drowne look the team to follow here. They can take the 2yo maiden at 16.20 with Folly Bridge (third to Mon Cadeaux- see above- at Salisbury) and mile maiden at 17.30 with Criticize. Drowne can round off a good day by winning the 7 furlongs handicap at 18.40 with Santefisio for trainer Peter Makin.

Irish trainers have been cleaning up in British N.H. races recently and that could be the case again at Sedgefield. The best race is the novice chase at 16.00 in which the Irish runnerscould take the first 3 placs; our fancy is ex-German Schelm (Ronald O´Leary/ Paul Carberry), whoi unseated his jockey last time but now has a top jockey in the saddle and loves this track. Another ex-German with chances is Andorn (Peter Kirby/ Phil Kinsella) in the opening maiden hurdle at 14.50, who could run well at a big price after being hampered here last time.
