Rest of UK and Ireland today

Apart from York, there is racing this afternoon at Carlisle and Hamilton (poor planning!), and this evening at Folkestone, Kempton (all-weather) and in Ireland at Killarney (a mixed meeting with 3 flat races, 3 chases and a bumper). The two best races at Carlisle are both 5 furlong handicaps. These are always tricky, but we fancy Bedloe´s Island (Neil Bycroft/ Franny Norton) at 16.50 CET and Wicked Wilma (Alan Berry/ David Allan) in the fillies´ event at 17.25. Most of the riders at Hamilton are apprentices and the 9 furlongs handicap at 16.40 could lie between the two top-weights Hippolytus (John Quinn/ Jamie Kyne) and Casino Night (Ferdy Murtagh/ Andrew Heffernan); when they met last time, the latter won over this CD by a neck but on slightly better terms, the former could come out on top this time. At Kempton this evening, Street Power (Jeremy Gask/ Steve Drowne) can defy top-weight and complete a hat-trick in the 6 furlongs handicap at 21.10, while on a very poor card at Folkestone, Yarra River (Andrew Balding/ Liam Keniry) can defeat Chocolate Cookie (Richard Hannon/ Pat Dobbs) in the 2yo maiden at 19.20. In Ireland, the 1 3/4 mile handicap at 19.05 at Killarney, while not as strong as the Ebor, is still quite a hot race. Rajik, Evening Rushour, Mountain Snow and Cybersnow all ran well at the big Galway meeting and one of them will probably win this. Over jumps, Ruby Walsh can land a double on Paramount fotr his father Ted at 19.35 and Compelled for Willie Mullins an hour later, both beaten favourites last time who can recover losses this evening.
