German runners at Deauville

The Deauville summer meeting continues today when the main event is the listed Prix du Cercle at 15.55 over 1000 metres. Two of the 13 runners are German-trained, the 11yo Sacho (Wilfried Kujath/ William Mongil) and 4yo Best Joking (Werner Hefter/ Gerald Mossé), who both ran in this event last year, finishing 3rd and 4th. Sacho is one of our favourite racehorses, but on this occasion we prefer Best Joking, who is very fast, but he faces strong opposition from the 3yo fillies Aiboa (Urbano Grajales/ Christophe Soumillon), Peace Camp (Andre Fabre/ Johan Victoire) and Treasure (Criquette Head-Maarek/ Christophe Lemaire). However our main fancy is British challenger Masta Plasta (David Nicholls/ Thierry Thulliez). Molly Max (Miroslav Rulec/ Daniele Porcu) was back to form last time, but faces a stiff task under a huge weight in the 1900 metres tiercé handicap on the fibregrass at 14.25; in our opinion Grazilla (Andreas Trybuhl/ Lemaire) has a better chance in the second and easie r division at 17.25.
