Clairefontaine today

Only one German-trained runner at Clairefontaine today, Mario Hofer´s 9yo Kaliyan (Johan Victoire), who runs in a handicap over 3400 metres at 17.25. Kaliyan, in younger days listed class, is no longer very consistent but has dropped to an extremely lenient handicap mark and could run well in this large field, although he would not want any more ran. The card starts with four races over jumps, and the main event is the valuable Grand Steeple-Chase la Ville de Deauville, a valuable handicap over 4500 metres at 15.25. With 18 runners this is very open, but recent CD winner Quondor de Kerser (Pat Quinton/ Jerome Zuliani) seems to be the likely favourite.
