4 meetings in the U.K. today

there is British flat racing this afternoon at Ripon and over jumps at Newton Abbot, while this evening we have flat racing from Windsor and Carlisle. Most interesting race at Ripon is the 6 furlongs handicap at 16.45 CET, which look very open. Top-weight Tarabet (Richard Whitaker/ Tony Hamilton) was 3rd of 17 in a better race at York last time, which gives him a good chance, while Red Cape (Ruth Carr/ Andrew Elliott) and Capucci (John Quinn/ Graham Gibbons) were both runners-up last time, but our fancy is Mister Laurel (Richard Fahey/ Paul Hanagan), who made all to win easily at Newcastle last time. At Windsor this evening the two maiden races should repay study. The race at 19.30 is for 2yo maiden fillies over 6 furlongs and at 21.00 for 3- and 4yos´s over 10 furlongs. Godolphin has a well-bred newcomer in both races, Love andDevotion and Assaayya respectively, both with Frankie Dettori up, while John Gosden relies on Weeping Willow and Kansai Spirit (both with Jimmy Fortun e), but there are large fields for both events with several promising types engaged. At Carlisle, Legal Legacy (Michael Dods/ Phillip Makin) can complete a fourtimer in the 3yo handicap over 7 furlongs at 20.15, where top-weight Spanners End (Alan Jarvis/ Andrew Elliott) looks the main danger. ex-Fährhofer Santiago Atitlan has dropped to a very lenient rating in the handicap for older horses over the same trip half an hour later, but is probably best watched until he shows a glimmer of form. They go over jumps this afternoon at Newton Abbot, where German-bred top-weights Urban Tiger (Tim Vaughan/ Richard Johnson) and Olivino (Bernard Llewellyn/ Isabel Tompsett) have definite each-way chances in the handicap hurdle races at 17.00 and 17.30.
