two Group Two races at Maisons-Laffitte

Maisons-Laffitte stages one of its biggest days of the year this afternoon, featuring two Group Two races, the Prix Robert Papin for 2yo´s over 1100 metres at 15.50 and the Prix Eugene Adam for 3yo´s over 2000 metres at 16.20. The former event looks booked for the Aga Khan´s unbeaten Siyouni (Alain de Royer-Dupré/ Christophe Soumillon); the stable is not noted for precocious juveniles but this one looks the real deal. The danger, if any, coms from the two Italian entries Orpeen Shadow and Golden Ramon, both trained by Bruno Grizetti. German-trained Italian Oaks winner Night of Magic (Horst Steinmetz/ Mirco Demuro) is an interesting runner in the Eugene Adam, The only filly in the field she faces 8 opponents, best of whom could be Cashelgar (Royer-Dupré/ Gerald Mossé) and Prince Siegfried (Saeed bin Suroor/ Christophe Lemaire), but André Fabre has won this race 13 times already and his improving Ideology (Maxime Guyon) must be feared as well. The listed Prix de La Pepiniere o ver 2100 metres for 4yo and older fillies and mares has attracted an international field, including three German fillies, but La Tournesol (Peter Schiergen/ Dominique Boeuf), Lunduv (Christian von der Recke/ Mirco Demuro) and Stella di Quattro (Uwe Ostmann/ Rene Piechulek) face tough opposition, headed by Albisola (Robert Collet/ Johan Victoire).
