Rest of U.K. and Ireland

There is also a good flat card at Newmarket this afternoon, as well as Market Rasen s big N.H. meeting, backed up by lesser cards at Ripon, and this evening at Haydock and Lingfield, with Irish racing at Tipperary. At Newmarket, Godolphin s German bred Marine Saint (by Big Shuffle), the mount of Ted Durcan, can take the opening 2yo maiden at 15.00 CET. Main feature here is the listed race for fillies over 1 1/2 miles at 15.35. 5yo Barshiba (David Elsworth/ Jamie Spencer) won the Lancashire Oaks last time and has the best rating here, but may struggle to concede so much weight to the 3yo s Flame of Gibraltar (Henry Cecil/ Jimmy Quinn) and Splashdown (Luca Cumani/ Dane O Neill). Note should also be taken of Biniou (Robert Cowell/ Jamie Spencer) who finally gets the cut in the ground he needs and can defy top weight in the 5 furlongs handicap at 18.20. Market Rasen stage their big day of the summer with some valuable handicaps. The hurdle race at 15.05 was won last year by Katie s Tuitor (Charlie Mann/ Noel Fehily), who lines up again but under a much higher weight. Danehill Willy (Evan Williams/ Tony McCoy) must have a chance and meets his Haydock conqueror Jo Jo Star (Richard Fahey/ Brian Hughes) on 8 lbs better terms, but the latter has won twice on the flat since. The handicap chase over 2 3/4 miles at 16.40 looks even more difficult. Postmaster (Evan Williams/ Paul Moloney) is in great form, while Jonjo O Neill saddles three candidates all with chances. Tony McCoy partners Nostringsattached, but the other two Keepitsecret (Dominic Elsworth) and Nelsons Spice (Noel Fehily) look equally dangerous.
