Frankie at York

although the Godolphin stable has some runners at Ascot today, stable jockey Frankie Dettori travels north to York, primarily to partner Kirklees in the Group Two York Stakes over 10 furlongs at 16.10 CET. The lightly-raced 5yo was a very easy winner of a listed race last time out and should also be up to winning in this grade. He was long under consideration for Munich´s Group One race tomorrow, and he is our best bet of the day. Main opposition should come from Curtain Call (Luca Cumani/ Neil Callan), an excellent 4th last time in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud. Any further rain (not expected) would help his chances, while Tazeez (John Gosden/ Tadgh O´Shea) looks next best. Big betting race at York is the 6 furlongs Sky Bet Dash at 16.45 with 22 runners. Dandy Nicholls always does well in these big sprint handicaps and now saddles 4 runners, of whom Tajneed (with son Adrian in the saddle) and CD winner Striking Spirit (Micky Fenton) could come out best. Richard Fahey is anot her trainer to watch here and it is interesting that his stable jockey Paul Hanagan prefers Kaldoun Kingdom to Knot in Wood. Roker Park (Kevin Ryan/ Neil Callan) is another possibility in a wide open race. There is also racing this afternoon at Newcastle and Newmarket , and this evening at Lingfield and Salisbury, but all well below the standards of today´s cards at Ascot and York.

Betting forecast:
1. Race: Emerald Girl - Gertmegalush - Merseyside Star
2. Race: Aromatic - Spouk - Ella
3. Race: Kirklees - Curtain Call - Tazeez
4. Race: Roker Park - Cheveton - Striking Spirit
5. Race: Loveinthesand - Key Art - L`Enchanteresse
6. Race: Hawk Mountain - Nemo Spirit - Zuwaar
7. Race: Zomerlust - Bold Marc - Glenridding
