Beverley, Windsor and Ballinrobe (Ireland) this evening

the best race this evening at Beverley is the mile handicap at 21.30 CET and although there are only 7 runners this looks wide open. Desire to Excel (Paul Cole/ Jimmy Quinn) has won 3 of 4 starts this season, including this CD, and is th likely favouritem, but we prefer top-weight Burns Night (Mark Johnston/ Greg Fairley), who lost his chance last time by hanging badly and whose stable is still churning out winners on a regular basis. The trainer is a patriotic Scot and would no doubt love to win with a horse so named. At Newbury, there are 16 runners in the 2yo maiden fillies race at 20.20, including 7 newcomers. Outshone (John Gosden/ Jimmy Fortune) and L´Enchanteress (Michael Bell/ Hayley Turner) both finished third first time out and seem certain future winners, but Candleshoe (Richard Hannon/ Richard Hughes) comes from a stable in red-hot form who have a tremendous record in 2y0 races at this track. Ben´s Dream (Andrew Balding/ David Probert) won nicely at Warwick last t ime and can follow up under bottom weight in the 6 furlongs handicap at 20.50. In Ireland, there is a mixed meeting at Ballinrobe with 4 flat races, 2 chases and a bumper. Two likely winning favourites are Blue Ridge Lane (Dermot Weld/ Pat Smullen) on the flat at 19.10 and The God of Love (Philip Rothwell/ Davy Russell) over fences at 21.20.
