Bath, Sandown and Uttoxeter (N.H.)

as is often the case, the racing in the second half of the week is of much better quality than in the first half, and this is certainly the case today, with 2 group races this evening in Ireland and a listed race this afternoon at Sandown. This latter event is a 7 furlongs race for 2yo fillies at 16.20 CET which has attracted 8 runners, all of them winners. Bahati (Johnny Portman/ Tom Queally) is the only unbeaten filly, but is taking a huge leap on class. Richard Hannon´s juveniles are carrying all before them at present and his two runners, Crown (Richard Hughes) and Middle Club (Ryan Moore), are bound to be popular. However Gallic Star (Mick Channon/ Darryll Holland), a very easy maiden winner last time, could be the one to beat. An interesting runner here from the German point of view is Aviso (Barney Curley/ Tom Queally), who goes for the 10 furlongs handicap at 17.30. The Schlenderhan-bred won the German 2,000 Guineas two years ago, but seems to have lost form complete ly. However he is now racing off the ridiculously low mark of 79 and should certainly be watched for any market support. Veteran trainer Milton Bradley had a winner yesterday and today targets the 5 furlongs claiming race at 17.05 at Bath, where he saddles 3 runners. Best of them should be The Tatling (Jack Dean), who always runs well here; despite top-weight and his age of 12, he still looks easily the best horse in the field. Thre is alsoN.H. racing this afternoon at Uttoxeter, where Irish trainer Gordon Elliott should land a double with Cooksgrove Lady (Jason Maguire) in the novice hurdle at 15.00 (looks unbeatable, but will be priced accordingly) and Dirar (Seamus Durack) in the handicap hurdle at 16.45, both of them easy last-time-out winners.
