Warwick, Windsor and Ballinrobe this evening

Easily the best race of the day is the listed Warwickshire Oaks over 1 mile 3 furlongs at Warwick at 21.10 CET this evening. This event is of course restricted to fillies and mares, but unlike the real thing, is for 4yo´s and up. Lady Deauville (Roger Curtis/ Darryll Holland) is the class act here- she won a group race in Germany last autumn- but she needs soft ground and is not certain to run. Cassique Lady (Lucy Wadham/ Eddie Ahern) comes out best at the weights, but we prefer the consistent Lady Jane Digby (Mark Johnston/ Greg Fairley), who has been first or second on her last 6 starts. Richard Hannon and son-in-law Richard Hughes have a tremendous record in 2yo races at Windsor and can keep up the good work with Footstepsofspring in the 5 furlongs maiden at 20.00.

Hughes also has chances with Willie Musson´s Carleton in the 6 furlongs handicap half an hour later, but this is a very open race with 15 runners and top-weight Mymumsaysimthebest (Gary and Ryan Moore) looks the safest option. There are a couple of well-bred newcomers in the 10 furlongs maiden at 21.00, but on public form Buckie (Henry Cecil/ Tom Queally) is the logical choice. In Ireland, there is a mixed meeting at Ballinrobe (4 flat races, 4 N.H.). Edward Lynam´s Captain Henry should win the 9 furlongs maiden for 3yo´s at 18.50, even though he has never run over so far before. He will be partnered by Danny Mullins, yet another talented member of the Mullins clan, and trainer Willie can take the beginners chase at 20.20 with Coffee, Tea or Me (David Casey), who as the only 4yo in the field receives a very generous weight allowance.
